Monty completed his 40-year career with IBM in December of 2019 (he claims he started when he was 10 years old).  For 17 years he was an integral part of the Intellectual Property/Patent team where he originally started as a patent engineer creating claim charts. He spent the last several years as the IBM executive managing the patent monetization team comprised of business development execs and engineers worldwide.

Monty created Austin Patent Expertise, APE, to share his years of experience with clients needing assistance to realize their patent strategies.  His many years of involvement with filing, maintenance, defense, assertion, and monetization strategies, as well as transaction contract terms and conditions, give him a broad view of the patent business.

Monty spends his free time with family, watching Indianapolis Colts football, and enjoying good food and wine.

Alpana worked as a research scientist at IBM for almost 20 years.  She then worked with IBM's Intellectual Property/Patent team as a patent engineer leading patent monetization through licensing and divestitures for several years.  In the last few years she has been a Principal Patent Engineer at Microsoft and a Vice President at GreyB.  

Alpana has accumulated several years of hands-on experience in licensing and divestiture strategy, negotiating contracts, and leading teams in patent monetization through mining portfolios, claim charting, and devising strategy.
